This sleek Xiaomi Sound Party 50-watt speaker outperforms the JBL Charge 6
⧩Sounds more powerful than its sleek size and 50 watts

Xiaomi is most known for its budget smartphones, but they manufacture and sell good-quality portable speakers. I have never been interested in checking their speakers until now. I discovered the Xiaomi Sound Party 50W on Techder Audios's channel. I was in love with the design immediately. Later I found out that they also have smaller 30 watts speaker, but I am more interested in this 50-watt speaker as it offers a balance of power and portability. I was shocked to see that this Sound Party 50W was outperforming the JBL Charge 6 in power - let's dig deeper.
For myself, to be at least interested in a portable speaker, it has to have an interesting design and I need to like the design at least a little bit. However, sometimes I could fall in love with the design even at the very first look, that happened with my Soundcore Motion+ speaker. And the same thing happened with this new Xiaomi Sound Party 50W speaker. I appreciated the design even more when I got to see its sleek handle design. You wouldn't even guess where the handle is by having a quick look. The Sound Party speaker looks like it doesn't have a carrying handle, but it actually has a carrying handle.

It has a very skinny, smooth and sleek look that makes it appear kinda taller. The design is very very refined, polished and clean. The fabric body gives it a premium vibe. On top of that, the orange hidden handle kinda like a horizontal strip gives the speaker an accent-color. I am not sure if the orange handle is made of silicone or not, but there is a small cutout or notch to pull the handle using your finger. The handle goes back to its flat position when you release. I think this is a very cleaver design to make the speaker very compact looking, like nothing is going to stick out - very sleek.
It's sad that this Xiaomi Sound Party 50W speaker is a mono-kind. The configuration is that it is a mono sounding speaker with a woofer, a tweeter and two passive radiators. The drivers are on the front side and the passive radiators are on the left-right sides. The total wattage rating, which is 50 watts refers to the woofer being 35 watts and the tweeter being 15 watts. The JBL Charge 6 has a rating of 45 watts with 30 watts woofer and 15 watts tweeter. These are not peak ratings, but both seem to fall under similarly powerful speakers.

The Xiaomi Sound Party speaker with model number being MDZ-39-DB, has power bank feature at 5V 3A max through the type-c charging port. The type-c port is protected by a flap vs it's exposed on the JBL Charge 6 speaker. The specified frequency response for the Sound Party is 60 Hz to 20 KHz vs Charge 6's 56 Hz bass limitation. This sleek little speaker unit has a weight of 1200 grams vs JBL Charge 6's 960 grams of weight, that is kinda crazy but also make the Xiaomi speaker feel like a solid quality speaker. The Sound Party looks taller but Charge 6 looks kinda beefier.
The passive radiators on the Xiaomi Sound Party 50 look very unique. They look very stylish and attractive with the 3D lights. The official page says that the lights are inspired by space-time tunnels. It also states "the ambient lighting is designed to pulse with the rhythm of your music, elevating the vibe and setting the perfect party mood" - I have asked some creators about whether or not the lights can be beat-synced. They all said that there is only a feature where you can change the color of the lights but can't make them dance with beats. But "designed to pulse with the rhythm" means it should have that feature - maybe a software update can make that available later.

I really don't like speakers that have passive radiators without any branding or pattern, like the Sony ULT Field speakers have passive radiators with no-branding. However, this Sound Party speaker from Xiaomi looks so clean, and with those lights the "HARMAN" branding wasn't necessary there. It would have been better if the branding was on the right side of the handle. I don't mind the branding on the passive radiator, I think they did it right by putting the branding on the side with a subtle look. When the lights are on, the transparent radiators give an awesome look.
After analyzing sound samples from "Techder Audios" and evaluating experts' opinions, I think the Xiaomi Sound Party 50-watt speaker holds its ground well against much more pricey JBL Charge 6. Not only performing well but also outperforming the JBL Charge 6 in bass and overall loudness. The Xiaomi sounds bigger than its size and its rated 50 watts, which is very good for a portable speaker that costs around $50 less than the JBL Charge 6. The passive radiators moves like crazy on the Xiaomi Sound Party 50W speaker, they also look bigger than the JBL Charge 6's passive radiators.
The JBL Charge 6 has a big push or boost in the high-end frequencies, that makes the sound coming out of Charge 6 very bright at higher volumes like above 65% volume. Because of having unbalanced bass at higher volumes, the Charge 6 sounds unpleasant. The Xiaomi Sound Party handles the bass and treble better, it has a more controlled and balanced sound signature even at higher volumes. The Xiaomi also has bass limitation at higher volumes but it sounds more powerful compared to JBL Charge 6. I also think that the Xiaomi might even be going slightly deeper in the bass.

Just like the Xiaomi Sound Party doesn't have a piercing high-end at higher volumes, it also has more bass kicks. It has a bass-boost mode, but it might make the sound pretty unbalanced by making it too bass-heavy for lower volumes. Overall, I think this speaker is outperforming the JBL Charge 6 in terms of sound quality, also the Xiaomi has cool lights that the JBL Charge 6 doesn't have. The Xiaomi Sound Party 50W can last 26 hours at around 50% volume with other modes off. Having a premium look and build while costing way less, this speaker's unique appeal is unavoidable.

A while ago I published a review of the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G smartphone, check that out if you are into budget phones. In case you are interested in portable speakers, I compared 3 Boombox type speakers from 3 different brands such as Soundcore, Tribit and JBL. The Xiaomi Sound Party 50W portable speaker was unveiled globally on Xiaomi's official website around June 15, 2025, with a subsequent launch in the Philippines starting early July, 2025, featuring an early bird price promotion. The speaker will slowly become available globally. If you are interested, you can buy it from AliExpress. This premium looking speaker with IP67, Bluetooth 5.4, MIC, 7.3-V 5200-mAh battery, Party Connect and TWS pairing is worth having in my opinion. Check out the official page for more information.
