iPhone 14 will have the same super flat frame design as the iPhone 13, which was previously started with iPhone 12. When iPhone 12 came with this new design in 2020 that had completely flat sides, a lot of people liked it so much and that design was totally opposite of curved frame design. Since then Apple has been sticking with the same design. No big change is coming this year like a whole new design but with every new iPhone people will obviously get some key improvements. Apple is pretty good at developing their own technologies and keeping people locked into their ecosystem. In this article I am going to tell you about the key changes and improvements that we will see in the upcoming iPhone 14 series.

Apple iPhone 14 series is making big gap between the Pro and non-Pro models. Only the Pro versions are getting A16 Bionic chip with much better cameras.
PROS
Premium Build
Wireless Charging
Modern Cool Design
A16 Bionic Chip
New iOS 16
CONS
High retail price
Non-pros with A15 chip
No type-c charging
No 3.5 mm

Inside the Box
We can guess about what is going to be inside the box because Apple doesn’t seem to surprise people with their iPhone packaging. Apple is doing eco-friendly packaging here and they made the box pretty slim by excluding the charger from the box. I don’t like this approach and I think the charger is not coming back. There will be no plastic wrap because of the eco-friendly tag that they’re trying to spread. In the box we will have a type-c to lightning cable, SIM card ejection tool, some paperwork and an Apple sticker which is white.

Design and Build
I like the new iPhone design that Apple started with the iPhone 12 series. Flat display, flat back, flat sides and flat everything really add a different character and look to the phone, which makes it more slim and modern in some ways. The iPhone 14 has the same design like last year but there are some noticeable changes that I will discuss later in this article. I love the back glass and camera module design. This year with iPhone 14 the camera module will get even bigger and in my opinion it's now getting too big that will start looking a little bit odd. As usual the pro models will have all the cameras on the back side.

Non-pro models are a bit cut-down version from the pros. The display bezel will be thin and symmetrical but the cutouts are different from last year's iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 pro models will have 2 separate punch-holes within the display forming an i-shaped cutout. Non-pro version may have a single cutout slim notch display which is a more clean look. The build quality of iPhones is always top class. The frame of iPhone 14 is made out of stainless steel, which is much harder than aluminum.

Steel is also more durable and scratch resistant than aluminum. So if you want to buy an iPhone, you can be pretty sure that your phone will have premium build quality. The iPhone 14 will also have scratch resistant ceramic glass and oleophobic coating. You don't need to worry about dust and water because it has IP68 protection. Nowadays iPhones have the best protection, durability and reliability in the smartphone industry. Overall, the design and build is excellent like it was for the last couple of years.

The Display
Apple iPhone 14 series will have OLED LTPO display panels. It is very good news that this time the displays are featuring LTPO tech, which will eventually help the users to get more battery backup time. With this display tech that allows the display to change refresh rate dynamically depending on various conditions and variables, Apple can make the iPhone 14 way more energy efficient than before. The display will also have HDR10, Dolby Vision, at least 400 ppi density, at least 1200 nits peak brightness and many more.

In the iPhone 14 series, only the pro models will feature 120 Hz refresh rate display panels but the non-pro models will probably have only 60 Hz displays. The pro version will get their displays from Samsung but other versions may have LG panels. Multiple lines of code in iOS 16 indicate that the iPhone 14 may feature an always-on display. Apple is already late in implementing this display feature. As they are using OLED tech, always-on display should work well.

The pro versions will have 2 separate holes in the display, which is kinda like an i-shaped cutout. This is not a very clean look but it is what it is. The non-pro version will probably have a slim notch display like a single cutout. So yeah some noticeable changes are coming in the display department that you may like or not but people will get used to it anyway.

Hardware Specs
Apple used to ship their newest series of iPhones with brand new upgraded Bionic chip. This year it's not going to be the same. Only the Pro versions will get the fancy new A16 Bionic chip. The non-Pro versions will have the same old last year's A15 Bionic chip. The new A16 chip has an overall performance improvement of 15% but they are sticking with 5nm based fabrication process. Currently the Bionic is the fastest chip in any smartphone. So let's talk about the camera hardware now.

The Pro will get a triple camera setup with additional LiDAR scanner while the non-Pro gets only a dual camera setup. Big camera improvements are coming this year for the Pro versions. They will pack a massive 1/1.3 inch 48MP sensor, which will probably be from Sony. Sensor-shift technology and other software features will come with them too. So the Pro with 48MP main, 12MP ultrawide, 12MP telephoto and a lidar sensor while the non-Pro with 12MP main and 12MP ultrawide camera.

Software Specs
The new iOS 16 is coming with iPhone 14 series. A lot of cool new features are baked in the new OS. Now you can personalize your iPhone more than ever with iOS 16 lock-screen features. Some of the Lock Screen functions are to showcase favorite photos, customize font styles and display a set of widgets to get information at a glance. You can now create different Lock Screens, each with a unique backdrop and style also easily switch between them. And also you can view notifications on the Lock Screen in an expanded list view, stacked view or hidden view. And notifications appear at the bottom of the screen, so they stay out of the way. Other than the new iOS 16 features, you will also get a lot of improvements within the built-in apps. Please check out this official iOS 16 preview page to explore a lot more.

Features and Battery
I am not sure about the 8K 30fps video recording feature with the upcoming iPhone 14 series but you will be able to record videos at 4K 60fps using both the front and rear camera. The craziest feature is that you can record videos in Dolby Vision HDR. Some other features are OIS, sensor-shift OIS, PDAF and optical zoom. The phone can record in stereo and the speakers are also stereo. Apple’s iPhone has one of the best sounding speakers in any smartphone. It will also have wifi 6, latest bluetooth, GPS, NFC and Face ID.
Picture of ios 16 lock screen
The iPhone 14 will have a battery capacity of 3279 mAh, which is similar to iPhone 13. The iPhone 14 pro will have a 3200 mAh battery, a 105 mAh increase over last year’s model. The 14 Pro Max will probably have a 4323 mAh battery, which is a 30 mAh drop from last year’s 13 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 series will have at least 23 watt fast charging, 15 watt MagSafe wireless charging and usb power delivery 2.

Conclusion
These are expensive flagship category phones and the iPhone 14 Pro Max is the top-end flagship that will get all the bells and whistles of hardware and software. You have to choose carefully while buying the latest iPhone because Apple is now making the gap bigger and bigger. If you don’t need the best gaming performance and camera hardware then choosing the Pro Max will be a waste of money. If you are a regular person then the iPhone 14 or 14 Pro should be your choice. We are at the end of this article, I hope you’ve got enough information from this article that will help you to choose wisely.
